Lymphovenous disease and its effects on the lower limb
نویسنده
چکیده
Lymphatic pathophysiology secondary to chronic venous insufficiency is often overlooked (White et al, 2014), sometimes because of a lack of awareness on the part of clinicians; a lack of understanding of its clinical relevance; or lack of time available for further investigations. This article will examine the development of lymphovenous disease of the lower limbs and the options for diagnosis and management. It will also consider the implications for the patient of poorly managed disease, particularly the development and management of wounds. Lymphovenous disease and its effects on the lower limb

Dealing with common lower limb problems in primary care
Abnormal lower limb swelling is variously referred to as chronic oedema, lymphovenous oedema, lymphoedema or lipoedema (Todd, 2012). Generally, oedema is defined as an ‘accumulation of fluid in the intercellular tissue that results from an increased volume of fluid’ (Trayes et al, 2013). Chronic oedema includes oedema which develops as a result of venous disease, dependency oedema and lymphoven...

Introduction: Muscular weakness, particularly weakness of lower limb muscles is a symptom of Parkinson disease, which, together with other symptoms, will result in a variety of movement disorders. This research is designed to assess the effectiveness of a water-based exercise program on the lower limb muscles strength of Parkinson patients' knee joints. Materials and Methods: In a semi-exp...

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of two pedaling methods on lower limb muscles fatigue index and muscular activity in road cyclists. For this purpose eight road cyclists participated in two separately session in laboratory. They were pedaling with pushing technique in first session and circling (pullingpushing) technique in the other session. Surface electromyography activity...

متن کاملEstimating Lymphodynamic Conditions and Lymphovenous Anastomosis Efficacy Using 99mTc-phytate Lymphoscintigraphy with SPECT-CT in Patients with Lower-limb Lymphedema
BACKGROUND Diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for lower-limb lymphedema have not yet been established. The purpose of this study was to estimate the lymphodynamic condition and therapeutic efficacy of lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) in lower-limb lymphedema patients using 2-phase (99m)Tc-phytate lymphoscintigraphy with single-photon emission computed tomography-computed tomography (SPECT-CT)....
